The development of a completely new printer typology as a diploma project is a powerful and notable achievement. The absolute reduction of the printer to its fundamental function is conceptually convincing, and seems to have been efficiently realised in technical terms as well.
BLOOMING SPECIES - PIA FARRUGIA
A contemporary form of jewellery inspired by nature, partly consisting of processed organic finds and partly of crafted elements. The potential of this project, which has already attracted international notice, goes far beyond the classic jewellery sector and has implications for fashion and interior design.
KNOCK ON WOOD - ELISA KAUFMANN
The extensive exploration of a material – in this case wood – and three-dimensional design form the solid basis for this ladies’ fashion collection, which convincingly plays on the theme of superstition. The designer is clearly in search of innovative approaches, and her fashion is deliberately opposed to the rapid turnover of the industry.
6X6 GRANDE - AURÉLIE MATHIEU, CHARLOTTE SUNNEN
Natural stone does not often feature as a material in furniture design, and perhaps deserves better. The articles of this independent collection are notable above all for their innovative structural design, which is accentuated by the coloured adhesive. The formal idiom matches the character of the material, with its aspiration to permanency.
E.FLUX - MAX WINTER
Created as a diploma project, this robot for monitoring high voltage cables is impressive in both engineering and design terms. The structured design is functional and compact, and at the same time makes a robust impression.
PHIRRATIONAL - CAROLINE SIMONA SAUTER
Based on comprehensive research into a frequently treated topic, this project is convincingly varied, refreshing and intelligently realised in space. The cleverly designed spatial installation functions with the help of sophisticated lighting, making a complex theme into a tangible walk-in experience.
...C’EST LE POMPON - FLAKA JAHAJ
Well-grounded research into an ancient textile technique, combined with modern conceptual design, has here resulted in an exciting reinterpretation, which has been realised with a high degree of creativity. Evincing beauty and charm, the designs hover in an intermediate area between fashion, performance and art.
REVERSO, EIN WORTSPIEL - TIZIANA ARTEMISIO
Clever in conception and sophisticated in the realisation, reverso is more than just a game. It provides the basis for new combinations of multiple words with a very limited range of characters – a playful invitation to reflect on the ambivalence of symbols and the power of interpretation.
APPLIED FICTION - MICHAELA BÜSSE
This work adopts an exciting and far-ranging approach, and its efficiently conducted engagement with socially relevant future issues makes a powerful impression. User-friendly and sensitive to requirements, it goes beyond pure analysis and offers a specially developed innovation methodology of its own.
SOUNDABLE FASHION - YLENIA GORTANA
The coupling of fashion and music readily suggests itself, because both artistic genres are closely linked to the contemporary spirit and lifestyle. Designed for a catwalk presentation, this project is an interesting approach – likewise from the technical point of view – with a view to building a bridge between these disciplines.
